What is Dua Hajat?

Dua Hajat is a special kind of prayer where a person expresses their wishes and desires to Allah. The word “Hajat” itself means a wish. This prayer involves performing two units of prayer, known as Salatul Hajat, as an offering to Allah. It’s a way to ask for something specific or seek the realization of particular goals.

This prayer is particularly significant when a Muslim hopes for something that’s difficult to achieve. It serves as a means to connect with Allah, seeking His guidance and help to fulfill personal needs and aspirations. While Salatul Hajat can be performed at any time, it’s often recommended to do it in the early hours of the morning.

Engaging in this prayer has a positive impact on a person’s spiritual, mental, and physical well-being. By reciting dua hajat in a timely manner, individuals are guided by Allah and encouraged to avoid wrongdoing. It’s seen as a virtuous act. The dua Hajat is a heartfelt plea directed to Allah, demonstrating humility and sincerity. It’s a way of acknowledging that Allah is the ultimate source of fulfillment for our needs and desires, and we rely solely on His guidance and support.

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) used to offer Salatul Hajat frequently. He encouraged his followers to offer this prayer whenever they needed Allah’s help. The Prophet (PBUH) said: ”Whoever has a need from Allah or from any human being should perform ablution and pray two Rak’ahs (units of prayer) of Salatul Hajat.” (Ibn Majah).

Salat ul Hajat

Salat ul Hajat is a 2-rakat prayer performed before reading the dua hajat. Salatul hajat can be performed at any time of the day. However, the best prescribed time for salatul hajat is during the final third part of the night.

The dua that is said in Salatul-Hajat is a salat for need called dua hajat. Regarding dua hajat, Abdullah ibn Abi Awfa narrates:

The Messenger of Allah said, “Whoever has a need with Allah, or with any human being, then let them perform ritual ablutions and then pray two rakats. After that, let them praise Allah and send blessings (Durood) on the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).”

BISMILLAH 🙏 TO SUPPORT US

Salatul Hajat is a simple prayer that can be performed at any time of the day or night. However, it is recommended to perform it in the early hours of the morning before Fajr prayer. The steps to perform Salatul Hajat are as follows:

Step 1: Perform Wudu (ablution)

Before performing any prayer, it is important to perform Wudu (ablution). Wudu is a ritual purification that involves washing the face, hands, arms, head, and feet.

Step 2: Make an intention

Make an intention in your heart to perform Salatul Hajat for a specific need or desire.

Step 3: Perform two Rak’ahs (units of prayer)

Stand facing the Qiblah (direction of the Kaaba in Mecca) and recite Takbir (Allahu Akbar) to start the prayer. Then recite Surah Al-Fatihah (the opening chapter of the Quran) and any other Surah of the Quran. After completing the first Rak’ah, perform the second Rak’ah in the same manner.

Step 5: Make Salam

End the prayer by turning your head to the right and saying ”Assalamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullah” (Peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah) and then turning your head to the left and saying the same thing.

Step 4: Supplicate to Allah

After completing the prayer, raise your hands and read any dua hajat listed below. Thereafter, ask Allah for His help in fulfilling your needs and desires.
